The village’s church of Holy Cross
The Lefkara Church is dedicated to the Holy Cross and dates back to the 14th century. The byzantinologist Ath. Papageorgiou confirmed that the eastern part of the Church dates back to the 14th century, namely after considering rescued frescoes behind the church’s iconostasis. The style of the eastern part of the church is cruciform with a cupola, while the style of its more recent part is Cypriot dating back to the 19th century.
The iconostasis has an invisible cavity. It is the crypt where the big wooden Cross is kept, which the church is dedicated to. A piece of the Cross of the Lord is contained in the centre of this cross.

Kalavassos Tenta Neolithic Settlement
Tenta, the name of a lens - shaped hill that rises about 20 metres above the western side of Vasilikos Valley, lies about 2.5 kilometres from the village of Kalavassos. The earliest remains of human habitation at Tenta date back to the Aceramic Neolithic period (c. 7500 BC - c. 5200 BC). There appears to be a gap from the end of this period until the site was reoccupied in the Ceramic Neolithic period (c. 4500 BC).

Stavrovouni Monastery
Perched on a rocky peak, Stavrovouni means Mountain of the Cross. According to tradition; it was founded in the 4th century by the mother of Constantine the Great, Agia Eleni, who left a fragment of the Holy Cross at the monastery. The brotherhood is extremely devout, keeping vows as strict as those at Mount Athos in Greece. There is an impressive ceremony and celebrations on September 14th, the day of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross.
The monks here have a reputation for icon painting. Women are not allowed to visit Stavrovouni Monastery. Men may visit the monastery, but must be decently dressed.

Agios Minas Convent
This 15th century convent near the village of Lefkara consists of a church, cloisters and other monastic buildings. Besides performing their religious rites, the nuns also paint icons. The convent probably began as a Dominican establishment. The church is the common mix of Byzantine and Gothic styles, with a pointed vault with traverse ribs and side porticos. On the north and south walls are two large paintings of Agios Georgios and Agios Minas dated 1757. Eighteenth century monastic buildings surround the church, with cloisters to the west.

Troodos Mountains - Forest
Troodos (Greek: Τρόοδος [ˈtɾooðos]; Turkish: Trodos Dağları; is the largest mountain range of Cyprus, located in the center of the island. Troodos' highest peak is Mount Olympus at 1,952 meters which also hosts 4 ski slopes. The Troodos mountain range stretches across most of the western side of Cyprus. There are many famous mountain resorts, Byzantine monasteries and churches on mountain peaks, and nestling in its valleys and picturesque mountains are villages clinging to terraced hill slopes. The area has been known since ancient times[1] for its mines. Regarding the pronunciation of Troodos has not changed much from that of Greek mythology[2][3] “Το-ορο-Άδος” Greek: Cypriot dialect. In Greek mythology, Troodos was known as the Mountains of Adonis also Aphrodite and Adonis meeting place. In the Byzantine period it became a great centre of Byzantine art, as churches and monasteries were built in the mountains, away from the threatened coastline.
